Bass (acoustic)Commonly 4 stringed instrument, tuned to E, A, D, G an octave below a standard acoustic guitar.

12 StringHas 12 strings in 6 courses, the first four courses tuned an octave apart and the last 2 being the same. Has a natural chorus effect due to the frequencies of the two strings in each course.

JumboKnown commonly as a wide bodied guitar, it has a deep resonating bass and a higher sound.

DreadnoughtOne of the more common designs, has a squared body and shoulders. Produces a louder tone and neck attached at fret 14.

Nashville TuningGuitarists replace the top three strings of a six string guitar with a lighter gauge to allow for higher tuning. Usually using the higher courses of a 12 string set.
